Commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty endorses Sameer Kanal for City Council

Jo Ann Hardesty, who served as Portland City Commissioner from 2019-2023, endorsed Sameer Kanal for City Council today.

Sameer Kanal released the following statement:

“I am humbled and grateful to have the endorsement of Commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty. Commissioner Hardesty championed the creation of Portland Street Response and the community police oversight board / Police Accountability Commission while serving as City Commissioner. I work on both now at my day job, and will continue to fight for them when I’m on City Council.

If elected, I will be the first Asian-American on the Portland City Council. Having the endorsement of the first Black woman elected to Council means a lot to me.”
